Surrounded by digital tech, fighting for our attention, it is easy to get addicted. In today's youth, mobile addiction is a huge problem. Hence, let's talk about that & figure out a practical solution.

What exactly is mobile addiction?

Mobile addiction is a form wherein you are constantly attracted by your mobile, subconsciously.

You are addicted to your mobile if:

  1. Your hand automatically grabs your mobile every time you are free

  2. You check your mobile every few minutes

  3. You spend a significant chunk of your day surfing your mobile screen

  4. You find it tough to keep the mobile aside & focus

  5. You feel lonely, insecure & weird without your mobile around

The psychology of mobile addiction

If you start pursuing a particular activity subconsciously, it becomes a habit. If this habit is dangerous for you, it becomes an addiction.

If you sit back & observe, you will realize that your hand automatically grabs your mobile without even knowing it. This is an indicator of addiction, as the action is purely on a subconscious level & because the activity is harmful to you in the long run.

Getting rid of the addiction

The easiest & most sustainable way to get rid of mobile addiction is to consciously declare time limits during which you will stay away from your mobile. And, practice this until your subconscious is no longer responsible for using your mobile.

Consciously limiting the use of mobile will ensure that the subconscious does not overtake, even though the subconscious is way more powerful than the conscious.

Before ending, let me give you an example of how I follow this. I consciously tell myself that I will not use my mobile for the next 1 hour. Post that 1 hour, I use the mobile for some time and then repeat this entire 2 step process the whole day. This simple trick has changed my life completely. I can focus 100% on my work during that 1 hour & end the day with utmost satisfaction.

Depending on how diligently you follow this, there will come a time when you will no more be addicted to your mobile.
